Necessity is the Mother of Invention

19 Mar

“Collaborative” is probably not the word that one would use to describe our current public discourse. In fact, things seem downright combative. Whether it’s the House versus the Senate, Democrats versus Republicans, or parents versus Nick Jr., everyone seems primed to wage war.

In spite of this, limited resources and a fragile recovery have made for some strange bedfellows. While political infighting may grab the headlines, there has been a quiet resurgence in collaborative partnerships.

These partnerships are diverse and address a variety of issues. They include public, private, non-profit, philanthropic, and educational institutions. Whether it’s funding infrastructure repair, promoting affordable housing and transit, or fostering innovation around clean technology, these innovative collaborations are proliferating.

Even if scarcity is the new normal, these examples show just how much can be accomplished when we look for new partners to solve complex problems.

Sincerely yours,
